ME Congratulates University of Michigan for Its Solar Car Win!

Microgrid Energy cheered the University of Michigan on as they crossed the finish line first at the Alton, IL checkpoint on June 24th.

Microgrid, along with hundreds of bystanders, made the trip to the Melvin Price Locks and Dam in Alton to support all the teams in their pursuit to foster a greater understanding of solar energy and it’s promise for a brighter future.

Microgrid set up their demonstration Electric Vehicle charging station and, while the cars racing in the American Solar Challenge are powered entirely by solar energy, the crowd showed a significant interest in electric vehicle technology as well. The American Solar Challenge “is a unique learning experience that challenges students from higher education to develop an original design solution that addresses areas of energy management, transportation, and high tech materials.” (ref: americansolarchallenge.org/events/asc2010/about)
